02 — The maker

It started
with a toy boat.

I’m a woodworker based in Nottinghamshire. I’ve been making things with wood since I was small — the earliest thing I can remember making was a toy boat with my grandad in his cellar. From there I’ve made everything from a table for my home to new wardrobes, and now serving boards, bowls and vases that find their way into homes across the country.

“Woodworking is my passion, and now my third love — after my wife and children.”

Each piece is made by hand from quality timber — English oak, ash, cherry, sapele, maple and beech — with a lot of pieces coming from recycled wood that might otherwise go to waste. Everything is finished with premium Odie’s Oil for a durable, food‑safe finish that brings the grain to life.

Got something
special in mind?

Every piece I make starts with a conversation. Whether you’re after a personalised wedding gift, a wooden fruit bowl for your table, or a custom‑sized serving board for your kitchen — I’m here to make it happen.

We’ll agree the shape, timber, any engraving, price and making time before you decide. Every commission is quoted individually.

What does Eddy White Woodworking make?

A one‑person woodworking workshop in Nottinghamshire. Eddy hand‑makes wooden serving boards, charcuterie and cheese boards, hand‑turned bowls, ash twig vases and pestle‑and‑mortar sets — plus one‑off commissions.

Are the serving boards and bowls food safe?

Yes. Every piece is finished with Odie’s Oil, a natural, food‑safe finish that brings out the grain and protects the wood. The serving boards, chopping boards, bowls and pestle‑and‑mortar sets are all safe for everyday food use.

How do I care for a wooden board or bowl?

Hand‑wash with warm water and a little mild soap, then dry it straight away — never put a wooden board or bowl in the dishwasher or leave it soaking. Every now and then, re‑oil it with a food‑safe board oil (or Odie’s Oil) to keep the timber nourished and water‑resistant.

What types of wood do you use?

Pieces are turned from quality timber including English oak, ash, cherry, sapele, maple and beech. Many come from recycled or storm‑felled wood that would otherwise go to waste — such as the ash twig vases turned from a tree brought down by Storm Agnes.

Do you make custom or personalised pieces?

Yes — custom and personalised commissions are very welcome. Eddy regularly makes engraved serving boards for weddings and anniversaries, custom‑sized chopping boards and one‑off bowls. Send a message through the contact form or on Facebook to start a commission.

How does shipping work?

Shipping is agreed based on each order. Pieces vary a lot in size and weight, so the cost is confirmed with you before anything is posted — every piece is made in Nottinghamshire and shipped to homes right across the United Kingdom. On Etsy, the shipping cost is shown on the listing before you pay.

Where can I buy your pieces?

Directly from the Etsy shop, or in person at local markets around Nottinghamshire and the Midlands — follow on Facebook and Instagram for upcoming market dates.
